Discounts

Discounts are the promo codes your customer can enter when requesting a quote. A code has a value, a period in which it is valid, and optionally a maximum number of uses. The discount is calculated over the configuration and shown on the quotation and the quotation PDF.

Where to find it

Manager → Marketing → Discounts.

You see one list of all codes for your company. Each row shows the code, its value, the active period and a status label. The search field filters by code; Cmd/Ctrl + K jumps to it.

StatusMeaning
ScheduledThe start date is still in the future. The code does not work yet.
ActiveToday falls inside the period. The code works.
ExpiredThe end date has passed.
Limit reachedThe usage limit has been reached; the code no longer works even inside its period.

The copy button on a row copies the code to your clipboard, ready to paste into a campaign.

Creating and editing

Add discount opens the editor for a new code right away; the code only exists once you save it. Clicking an existing row opens the same editor.

The editor is a dialog with the sections below. Changes are only stored when you click Save (or press Cmd/Ctrl + S); the button stays disabled until there is something to save, and while the code, the value or the active period is still invalid. Close leaves the editor; a new code you never saved is discarded.

General

FieldWhat it does
CodeWhat the customer types. Required, and unique within your company (summer2026 counts as the same code as SUMMER2026). The customer must type the code exactly as saved, capitals included, so pick something readable: SUMMER2026 beats zx4p.
Usage limitHow often the code may be used in total, across all customers. Unlimited removes the limit. Below the field a bar shows n of m used.
ValueThe amount, with the type next to it: % (percentage of the total) or € (a fixed amount off). Must be greater than 0.
Active periodThe start and end date between which the code works. Both are required, and the end may not lie before the start. Outside it, the code is refused.

The usage counter goes up when a quote is actually submitted with the code — not when a visitor types it in. A saved but unsubmitted cart therefore does not consume the limit.

Excluded features

This section only appears on a percentage discount, because it only makes sense there: a fixed amount comes off the total, but a percentage is calculated per line.

Choose the features the discount must not apply to. Each excluded feature is skipped when calculating the discount; the customer still pays for it in full. Use it for cost items you do not want to discount — delivery, installation, a supplier surcharge.

Add one line per feature with Add feature and search it by name or feature ID; the list shows the features of your products, grouped per product, as name (ID). A feature that is already excluded cannot be picked twice. The remove button removes a line (click twice to confirm).

The exclusion is stored by feature ID. If you rename a feature ID in the Product Editor, update it here too, otherwise the exclusion silently stops applying. An ID that no longer exists in your products shows up under Not found in products.

Deleting a code

The remove button at the bottom of the editor deletes the code permanently; click it a second time to confirm. Quotations already generated with it keep the discount they were given — deleting only stops future use.

How the customer uses it

In the quote flow of the configurator there is a field for a discount code, once you have switched Discounts on in the personal fields of the submission. On entry the code is checked against the code itself, the period and the usage limit. If it is valid, the discount appears in the total and comes along to the quotation and the PDF, where you place it with the @@quotation.discount.text.*@@ variables (title, code, value, amount) from the template editor.

When a customer requests a quote through a dealer, the dealer's own discount codes apply.

You can also apply a code to a quote yourself in the quotation editor.

Tips

  • Give every campaign its own code. Then the usage counter tells you which channel is delivering, without any extra analytics.
  • Set an end date, always. A code without a foreseeable end keeps circulating; the period is your safety net.
  • Use the usage limit for scarcity. "First 50 customers" is a limit of 50, and the code closes itself.
  • Test the code once yourself. Run one configuration through the quote flow and check on the PDF that the discount lands where you expect.
