Product configurations
Configurations is the list of every product in your workspace: the ones you build yourself, the ones a supplier gave you permission to sell, and the ones you archived. It is the way into the Product Editor, and the place where you grant dealers access to a product.
Where to find it
Manager → Configurations.
The page has an action bar at the top and two collapsible sections below it: Products and, once you have archived something, Archived.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search field (magnifying glass) | Filters all sections at once, by product name and by supplier name. Cmd/Ctrl + K jumps to the field. |
| Add product | Creates a new product called new product and adds it to Owned products. Open it to give it a name and build it. |
Cmd/Ctrl + 0 collapses or expands all sections at once.
Owned products
Your own products, most recently edited first. Each row shows the product name and, underneath, how long ago it was edited, with how many dealers it is shared and — if the product is linked to a product workbook — at what time the workbook was last synced.
Next to the name, a status badge shows how the development version relates to live:
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Up-to-date | Live contains every change from the development version. |
| Ahead | The development version has been edited after live; hover to see when. Those changes are not yet published. |
| Unpublished | The product has no live version yet. |
Click a row to open it in the Product Editor. If the product has a development version, that is what opens — you edit the dev version and publish it to live from within the Product Editor.
The buttons on the right of a row:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Dealer versions | Expands the dealer list underneath the product. Only on live products, or on products that already have dealers. |
| Open live | Opens the published configurator in a new tab, exactly as your customer sees it. Only when the product has a live version. |
| Open concept | Opens the development version in a new tab. Only when the product has a development version. |
| Archive | Moves the product to the Archived section. |
live and dev
A product can exist twice: a live version, which is what your customers use, and a development version, in which you make changes safely. The two are linked, and the list shows them as one row with both buttons — so the list stays a list of products, not of versions. Which version you are editing, and how you publish dev to live, is handled inside the Product Editor.
Dealer access can only be granted for the live version. On a product that only exists as dev, the Dealer versions button is not shown.
Dealer access
Expand Dealer versions on a live product to see which dealer companies may sell it. Each row shows the dealer company name and since when the access has been active; click one to open that dealer's version of the product in the Dealer Editor.
To add one, click Grant a dealer access:
- Fill in the Dealer email — the address of an account at the dealer company.
- Click Send invite, or Cancel to close the form.
Points to be aware of:
- The email address has to belong to a company that already has an iConfigure account. If it does not, you get an Email not in use message; ask the dealer to sign up first.
- The invite stays Pending until the dealer accepts it. A pending grant is shown with an hourglass.
- If that dealer already has this product, you are asked whether you really want a second assignment.
From suppliers
Products another company granted you permission to sell, listed in the Products section underneath your own products. Each row shows from which supplier the product comes. This part only appears once you have at least one.
An invite you have not answered yet is highlighted and cannot be opened. It has two buttons:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Accept | Adds the product to your workspace. From then on you can open it and sell it. |
| Decline | Rejects the invite; the product disappears from your list. |
Waiting invites are also announced in a banner at the top of the page — Review scrolls you straight to them — and counted in a Pending badge on the Products section.
Once accepted, click the product to open it in the Dealer Editor. There you set your own price and your own texts; the structure of the product stays the supplier's. Open configurator on the row opens your version of the configurator in a new tab.
Archived
Products you archived. They keep everything — steps, features, prices, quotations — but stay out of your way in the daily list. The section is only shown when there is something in it, and is collapsed by default. Click an archived product to open it in the Product Editor.
Restore puts a product back under Owned products. Archiving is not deleting: an archived product remains available and can be brought back at any time.
Tips
- Archive instead of delete. Old quotations keep referring to the product they were generated from; an archived product keeps that history intact.
- Build in dev, sell from live. Give every product that is actually in use a development version, so you never edit the configurator your customers have open at that moment.
- Check with Open live after publishing. It opens the configurator exactly as the customer gets it — the fastest check that your change came through.
