Compositions

A composition is a configuration you saved in advance: a product with a specific set of options already selected. You share it as a link, show it in your showroom, or you set it as the configuration the configurator opens with. Useful for a display model in a showroom, a variant in a brochure, or a proposal you want to send a customer straight into.

Where to find it

Manager → Configurations → Pre-Configurations. The page itself is titled Compositions.

You see one list of all compositions in your workspace. Each row shows a render of the configuration, the name, the product it belongs to (with from <supplier> for a product you configure on behalf of a supplier), and a Starting label if it is that product's starting configuration. A composition you have hidden from the showroom carries a Not in showroom label.

The search field filters by composition name, product name and supplier name; Cmd/Ctrl + K jumps to it.

Creating one

Click Add. The configurator opens full screen, exactly as your customer sees it.

  1. Pick the product in the top bar. Only live, non-archived products are offered — a composition points at a published configurator, so a link never lands on a draft. The list is grouped into Owned products and From suppliers, the products a supplier has shared with you as a dealer.
  2. Configure the product in the configurator itself: click through the steps and pick the options.
  3. Give it a name in the top bar. Leave it empty and it is saved as Untitled.
  4. Save by finishing the configuration with the configurator's own submit button. The running total is shown in the top bar so you can check the composition before saving.

On saving, a render of the current 3D view is captured and used as the thumbnail in the list. If the render fails, the row falls back to a bookmark icon — the composition itself is saved regardless.

Editing one

Click a row to reopen it in the configurator, with its options already selected. Adjust and save; the thumbnail is re-rendered.

The product cannot be changed on an existing composition — the saved options belong to that product's structure. For another product, create a new composition.

The action buttons

ButtonWhat it does
Set default / Clear defaultSets the composition as the product's starting configuration, or clears it. Only for your own products.
Show in showroom / Hide from showroomShows or hides the composition in your showrooms.
Full URLShows the full URL, with a copy button.
EditOpens the composition in the configurator (the same as clicking the row).
DeleteDeletes the composition; click a second time to confirm.

Starting configuration

Click Set default and the configurator opens with that configuration for everyone, instead of with the default options. The row carries a Starting label.

One composition per product can be the starting one; setting another one as default takes the role over. Click Clear default to clear it, and the product opens with its defaults again.

The setting applies to the live product and its development version at the same time, so it survives publishing. Delete a composition that is the starting configuration and the product simply falls back to its defaults.

Showing in the showroom

New compositions are shown in your showrooms automatically, as ready-made variants under their product. Click Hide from showroom to keep a composition out of every showroom; Show in showroom brings it back. The order of the variants, and hiding them in one specific showroom only, is set per showroom in the showroom editor.

Sharing: full URL

Full URL gives you a link to the configurator, opened with this composition preselected: the readable address, with the product and the composition in the parameters. Handy in an email or on a web page.

Whoever opens the link lands in the configurator with everything already selected, and can change it from there. A composition is a starting point, not a lock.

Tips

  • Name compositions after the case, not after the options. "Showroom model kitchen" tells you more in six months than "White 60cm oak".
  • Use a starting configuration to reduce clicks. A configurator that opens on your most-sold variant asks the customer for fewer decisions than one that opens empty.
  • Check the thumbnail after saving. Missing? Then the 3D render did not come through — reopen the composition, wait until the model is fully loaded, and save again.
